Clermont is a fairly small city west of Orlando, population of 13,100(recorded in 2008). With recent downturn in housing, one can’t help but notice all the “For Sale” signs, overgrown grass, many abondoned homes. What’s going on in Clermont?
Same thing that’s going on in most of US. Home prices declined a great deal the past 2 years or so, many have lost their jobs and found themselves in a bind with mortgage, credit card debt and on and on. I was driving along HWY 27 where there are 4 restaurants next to each other within .5 mile and every single one had over 30 cars parked in their parking lot on a Thursday night around 6:30pm..No money to pay mortgage????? Unemployment??? SOOO What’s going on?
I believe despite of what we hear from the media, read in the newspapers, we seldom hear about success stories. I see new businesses moving into Clermont on a regular basis, yes, some had to shut their doors and some had to re-evaluate their staffing needs but it is hard not to notice the growth. As of 10/1/2010, there are 630 Homes that are listed for sale in Clermont, YES, that is a high number, however, there are also 257 homes that are under contract which shows families are still purchasing homes. There are 205 homes that are listed under $150,000.
My personal advise to those who are looking to move, please don’t listen to too much negative STUFF!! Do your research, tour the area, talk to local residents. It is a great time to buy a home, if you’re able to, don’t miss this opportunity.
